The big question is: Would Missourians pay 5 or 10 cents more per gallon for gasoline if they knew certain things would happen?

  1. That your drive time from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 7pm would be smoother, time saving and almost enjoyable.
  2. That gas money wisely spent for road improvement would make them much safer and move freight more efficiently.
  3. That better, less congested roads will guarantee you will burn less gas and save wear and tear on your vehicles.
  4. We know better roads in Missouri would attract more new businesses and add jobs and value to everyone’s real estate.
  5. We all like fair tax and a gas tax is a user’s tax and that’s who pays and benefits the most.

Those of us who were waiting for federal highway funding are headed for disappointment according to my Kiplinger letter dated April 10th, 2015. It’s just not going to happen.

Missouri politicians need to know that those of us who vote are reasonable people, so instead of Missouri politicians dithering and complaining about the Feds, we need to ask them to face reality.

Not only to lift gas taxes but find other ways to improve Missouri roads, like funding private investors and teaming up with advertisers.

So with no long term federal solution in sight, wouldn’t it be great if the Show Me State would act now and improve roads asap?

So raise my taxes please, it’s okay. Because this time the many benefits outweigh and negate any cost.

P.S. Four dollar per gallon gas should be gone forever thanks to lower demand due to drastic improvement in gas mileage by our manufacturers and new science recovery methods.

RE: Action and Reaction

It’s a fact, for any action taken there is a reaction. Sometimes, if planned well, the reaction is good. The problem is too often our Government’s actions are not always getting the right reaction.

As I write this article, our political parties are debating about passing a bill to allow construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. This action, if taken, could cause many positive reactions like more freedom from foreign oil and job creation.

Of course there could be some negatives, like possible ecological problems in the future.

Our government must weigh out the positives and negatives and then proceed to act with no thought of anything but what’s best for most American citizens and not their next election.

The reduction in the price of gas and heating oil is truly a windfall for the middle class and others and will continue to stimulate our economy.

Still there are those who have reasons to think otherwise. The big question; Is $50/barrel of oil and $2/gallon for gas always good for most Americans, with the emphasis on most?

As a young car salesman on South Kingshighway (automobile row in the 60’s) I could buy gas right across the street from the showroom for 21.9 cents per gallon or drive on block down to the Clark station and get it for 19.9 cents per gallon, plus get a coupon for my book for a new set of dishes.

Guess where I bought my gas?

Even at my age, I still know how good it feels to get a good deal and save some hard earned cash on any purchase.

That’s why I’m promising to beat any of my competition’s best advertised price, including the internet and all the cur buying rip off services.
